YONDELIS® is a prescription medicine used to treat people with liposarcoma or leiomyosarcoma that:

  • cannot be treated with surgery or has spread to other areas of the body,
  • who have received treatment with certain other medicines

It is not known if YONDELIS® is safe and effective in children.

Receiving YONDELIS®

YONDELIS® is given by a healthcare professional experienced in the use of chemotherapy. Before and between treatments, you will be monitored by your doctor with routine blood tests to help check for side effects, and to help your doctor decide the most appropriate dosage of YONDELIS® for you.

YONDELIS® is given by an intravenous (IV) infusion into a vein over 24 hours. In order to avoid irritation at the site of injection, YONDELIS® is given to you through a central venous line. Generally, YONDELIS® is given every 3 weeks. If you have side effects, your doctor may recommend a decrease in your dose and/or delay your treatment. If you have any side effects that are severe, your doctor may stop your treatment with YONDELIS®.

Before receiving YONDELIS®, you will be given a steroid medicine that will help reduce the risk of certain side effects.

The length of treatment with YONDELIS®

The length of your whole treatment period will depend on how your tumor responds as well as any side effects you may experience. Your doctor may do certain tests while you are taking YONDELIS® to monitor you for side effects and to see how well you respond to the treatment. Your doctor will tell you how long your treatment will last. If you have any further questions on the use of this medicine, ask your doctor.
